Since 1973 we have worked alongside a global network of highly respected suppliers, providing companies in the UK & Ireland with a local source of products from across the world. We pride ourselves on our bespoke portfolio of products we have nurtured over the years and our superb technical support provided by our sales representatives. By listening to the challenges our customers face, we help create solutions with our products to meet market demands of today.
In March 2022, Azelis acquired 100% of the shares of Whitfield Chemical Group, strengthening their CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers) and R&PA (rubber & plastic additives) business in the UK and Ireland.

Based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, WhitChem can trace its roots back to 1867 supplying china clay to the nearby potteries in Stoke-on-Trent, though the company as it stands today was founded in 1973. We began as a distributor for BAYER (now Covestro) products, and over the years, we added more companies to our portfolio of Partners and Principals.
In 2023, we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary, and we aim to maintain the quality of our service and products for many more years to come. We hope you will join us in celebrating half a century of WhitChem’s contributions to the chemical, mineral and polymer industries.
It is of great importance to us that we maintain the same core values and key features as the global manufacturers we represent. We go above and beyond to ensure we represent the brands we sell in a professional manner and provide added value service to each customer we meet.
We may be a small company, but we take pride in behaving like our international partners. We are reliable, realistic and responsible, we make it our obligation to maintain high standards throughout our customer experience.
We take ownership in being transparent with how we run our business, we have strong principles, and treat both customers and partners with uncompromised respect.
In 2018 we delivered 95% of all orders on time in full, we add value through our experienced technical knowhow of products and processes, and are no stranger to creating bespoke solutions for unique problems

Customer service is at the heart of everything we do – our dedicated account managers assist customers in a wide range of practical issues from handling, storage and waste management to regulation compliance, product selection and project development. What’s more, we constantly monitor international markets to ensure that we continue to excel in quality, reliability and product availability. We have created a streamline supply base for our customers, simplifying access to a complimentary portfolio of products from our local warehousing in the heart of the UK. We strongly believe that in utilizing our technical knowhow alongside our diverse range of products on offer, we can assist you in adding value to your business.

Our team work closely with both suppliers & customers to help drive sustainable development. We encourage customers to consider how they might be able to optimize production processes, reduce energy consumption and substitute products for more sustainable alternatives. Such considerations include closed-loop product life cycles (e.g. recyclable black plastic), reduced impact (e.g. replacing TiO2 with lower CO2 products), switching from harmful solvent-based systems to water-based (our customers use of water-based PU has grown exceptionally since 2016).

Our relationships with our Partners & Principals are central to the way in which we work. We constantly monitor the international marketplace, visit exhibitions and conferences where we can, in addition to supporting Principal marketing activities.

Our technical sales representatives undertake thorough training on a regular basis to continually strengthen their product knowledge & ensure we remain aware of any advances within our specialist industry sectors.
